Derby County’s promotion dream is alive says Clement

Derby County Manager Paul Clement believes that automatic promotion to the Premier League is still within the club’s grasp despite a poor run of form according to the Derby Telegraph.

The Rams have fallen 5 points behind the automatic promotion places and having played twice more than second place Middlesbrough the club will need to be at their very best over the next 3 months if they are to catch promotion pace setters Boro and Hull City.

Derby County were flying going into the Christmas period but have now failed to win since beating Fulham 2-0 at The IPro Stadium on Boxing Day. Tuesday night’s goalless draw with Preston North End was met with boos from some frustrated supporters but despite The Rams loss of form Manager Paul Clement still believes that automatic promotion can be an achievable target.

“We are all disappointed about the current run of results and it makes us more determined than ever to try to put things right” said the Derby County boss when speaking to the Derby Telegraph.

“It is achievable” said Clement when asked about the club’s chances of promotion.

“There are still 17 games to go but we have to start stringing some victories together if that is what is going to happen.”

“I am concerned about the run of results, of course, I would be silly to say I’m not but I still have the belief that a victory is not far away.”

The Rams face a winnable fixture at Fulham this afternoon with the West London club struggling for form themselves. Fulham have won just once in their last 14 league games and sit just 3 points clear of the relegation zone.
