Scunthorpe release experienced striker

Scunthorpe United have confirmed that experienced striker Darius Henderson has left the club. His Glanford Park contract has been mutually cancelled, after he made 16 appearances for the club.

The veteran forward signed after his release from Leyton Orient when they were relegated into League Two. He started five games for the Iron but is now free to go and find himself another club.

The 34-year-old veteran is no stranger to needing to find himself a new club. Scunthorpe was the tenth club of Henderson’s career and he’ll have his heart set on making that eleven in time for the second half of the season.

Henderson has today taken to Twitter, providing a brief message of thanks to everyone connected with Scunthorpe United, as well as wishing them all of the best for the future.

Henderson began his professional career with Reading, spending four years with the club before moving on to join Gillingham. After a season, he made the move to Watford and would win promotion into the Premier League via the play-offs under Aidy Boothroyd. Since then, he spend a few seasons at Sheffield United, and then Millwall. The past few seasons has had spent solitary seasons with both Nottingham Forest and Leyton Orient.
