Fode Koita

Turkish delight for Blackburn’s departing Koita

The Lancashire Telegraph understands that Blackburn Rovers striker Fode Koita is closing in on a move away from the club. Turkish top flight side Kasimpasa are set to seal a deal for the forward in a £200,000 deal. The 25-year-old has struggled with injuries and fitness since joining the club last year.

Yesterday, Marcus Olsson left the club to link up with Championship rivals Derby County, in a deal which will guarantee the club at least £750,000, although the fee could rise. Considering his contract only had six months remaining, it resembled a great financial deal for Blackburn. It is similar with Koita, as he was only a free transfer signing and they are set to make a £200,000 profit based on his sale.

However these are only considered good deals in the eyes of Lambert if those funds can be pumped back into their own transfer kitty. He is hoping to add to his squad this week, before the transfer window closes for the season. He revealed at the weekend that he is set for discussions with the Venky’s, in the hope of them relinquishing funds for him to further improve his squad.
