McCormack ‘desperate’ for Fulham exit

The Evening Standard is reporting that Fulham striker Ross McCormack is ‘desperate’ to leave the club in this transfer window. He has been the subject of interest from Championship promotion contenders Middlesbrough and they are said to be lining up a £10million offer for the Scottish forward.

The 29-year-old sat out the weekend defeat to Hull City because of ‘illness’. However the player is said to have told close friends that he is looking to leave Craven Cottage before the February 1st deadline. It seems quite likely that Middlesbrough will return with a bid and McCormack looks set to give his all to try and push through a move.

Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic has said on many occasions that he wants to keep his best players at the club, especially as they are being dragged into a Championship relegation scrap following a poor run of form. Fellow striker Moussa Dembele has also been linked with a move away, with several Premier League and overseas top flight clubs said to have been monitoring his progress this season.

McCormack signed for the London club in July 2014, for a fee believed to be in the region of £11million. With Boro saying they are only prepared to up their offer to ten, the Cottagers will almost certainly make a loss on this deal from a financial perspective. Losing a key player and regular goalscorer would be the biggest concern for Jokanovic and Fulham supporters. However it would appear to be Fulham’s loss could well very much be Middlesbrough’s gain.
