Blackburn Rovers full back set for Ewood Park exit

Blackburn Rovers Manager Paul Lambert has confirmed that the club have accepted a transfer bid from another Championship club for full back Markus Olsson according to the Lancashire Telegraph.

While the identity of the club who have made the bid remains unconfirmed, it is understood that Derby County have previously shown an interest in the player and Olsson could be set for a move to Pride Park.

The 27 year old Swede was left out of Rovers’ squad for yesterday’s fixture at Charlton Athletic and Rovers’ Manager Paul Lambert admitted afterwards that the full back did not feature as the player is expected to leave the club in the near future following receipt of a ‘very good’ offer. Olsson has just six months left on his Rovers contract and the player has not agreed an extension to the deal.

The full back joined Rovers on a free transfer in 2012 after rejecting a new deal at Halmstads BK and the Lancashire club beat competition from across Europe for the player’s signature. Olsson has represented his country at both Under 21 and senior level.

Should Olsson leave Rovers, Manager Paul Lambert could make the signing of a full back his top priority before the closure of the transfer window next week with funds being made available to the Rovers boss.
