Birmingham City linked with move for Brewers striker

Birmingham City are being linked with a move for Burton Albion goal machine Abdenasser El Khayati according to the Birmingham Mail.

The Blues could be on the search to enhance their attacking options for the Championship promotion run in and City Manager Gary Rowett is a known admirer of the striker.

The 26 year old was born in Rotterdam and was a youngster at PSV Eindhoven before moving on to play for FC Den Bosch. The striker left Den Bosch after a two year spell at s-Hertogenbosch and moved to NAC Breda before playing in Cyprus with Olympiakos Nicosia. After limited success in Cyprus, El Khayati returned to The Netherlands to play Dutch amateur football with Kozakken Boys before being snapped up by Burton Albion twelve months ago.

El Khayati can also operate out wide and has been used as a winger by The Brewers. The Dutchman has been a key member of a Burton Albion side which has excelled in League 1 this season and he has become a fans’ favourite at The Pirelli Stadium. El Khayati’s form is understood to be attracting interest from clubs back in his homeland.

Birmingham City have excelled themselves this season and Manager Gary Rowett could see El Khayati as an important potential addition to his squad who could help fire The Blues back into the top flight.
