Birmingham City sign non league youngster

Birmingham City have signed young Kidderminster Harriers midfielder Luke Maxwell for a fee in the region of £75,000, according to the Birmingham Mail.

The 18 year old has signed a three and a half year deal at St Andrews and will initially go into the academy set up at The Midlands club.

The midfielder will be loaned straight back to former club Kidderminster Harriers to allow the player to gain further first team playing experience in the Conference Premier.

Cash strapped Kidderminster Harriers have had a torrid season in the Conference Premier and look certain to be relegated come May.

Despite the doom and gloom lingering around Aggborough youngster Maxwell has been a shining light for the club after putting in a number of solid performances resulting in the player becoming a key member of the side.

Harriers initially fielded the young midfielder in a defensive role however Maxwell is now developing into a more attacking midfielder and the player is likely to develop further as an attacking driving midfielder during his time at Birmingham City.

Despite initially working with Birmingham City’s Development Team, Maxwell is understood to be keen to impress at St Andrews and the player already has his sights on becoming a first team regular in the near future.
