Relegation threatened League 1 club Colchester United have completed the signing of West Ham United striker Elliot Lee on a loan deal until the end of the season according to the East Anglian Daily Times.

The 21 year old Durham born striker has been loaned to the Essex club for a second time after having a short spell at the club in 2013 on a youth loan arrangement.

Lee is the son of former Newcastle United and West Ham United midfielder Rob Lee and is a graduate of The Hammers’ academy system at Upton Park. Lee has made 6 appearances and scored once for the Premier League club so far in his career.

The youngster spent time last season on loan at Luton Town where he scored 3 goals in 11 appearances during a successful spell with The Hatters. Lee also recently spent six weeks on loan at Blackpool but his loan deal was not extended after failing to score in the four matches which he played for the club.

Colchester United boss Kevin Keen knows Elliot Lee well having worked with the striker during his coaching days at West Ham’s academy.

The U’s host Fleetwood Town at The Weston Homes Community Stadium on Tuesday evening before travelling to Glanford Park on Saturday to face Managerless Scunthorpe United in an important fixture involving two clubs in the bottom half of the League 1 table.
