Yesterday, Championship strugglers Bristol City elected to sack Steve Cotterill as first-team manager. He guided the club to the League One title and Johnstone’s Paint Trophy last season, but this season has been a struggle. Many have their reasons for this departure, but we have taken to Twitter to see how most of Robins fans have reacted to the news.

Some would be surprised at hearing it, some may have felt it was a long time coming. A video did appear online showing Cotterill engaged in angry exchanges with fans after Tuesday’s defeat to Preston North End. Did that have any bearing on the decision? They do say football is a results business and they haven’t been in the best of form. Not even Cotterill himself could deny that.

There has also been the suggestion that the timing has been wrong. Bristol Post’s Andy Stockhausen felt as though recruitment, or the lack of it, is a major reason for his departure. Perhaps he dreamt too big and unrealistic when trying to sign the likes of Dwight Gayle, Andre Gray and Zach Clough to name but three. Club Chairman Keith Dawe felt that they ‘haven’t managed to push on’ after last season’s success. Do Bristol City fans agree? Let’s have a look.
