Leeds target to stay at Celtic

Leeds United target Tom Rogic is to stay at Celtic, reports the Daily Star.

It was claimed earlier this week in the Yorkshire Evening Post that Leeds boss Steve Evans was targeting a move for the £1m rated Australian.

However, Celtic boss Ronny Deila has revealed that the attacking midfield playmaker will not be leaving Celtic Park this January.

He said:

”I haven’t heard so much about that.”

“But what I do know is that we want to re-sign Tom and have him here for the future.”

“He’s made a lot of progress and we see a lot of potential in him.”

“He can do much better because he has only played for six months after being out for a year before that.”

“He needs time so he’s going to stay here with Celtic.”

Rogic signed for the Scottish giants in January 2013 for around £400,000.

However, he has only featured 29 times due to injury and a loan stint back in his homeland with Melbourne Victory.

The news is a blow to Leeds, as they search for attacking reinforcements.

Another Celtic player, forward Anthony Stokes, also looks set to sign for Dundee United, after Leeds interest in him.
