Leicester City have been sending scouts to monitor the progress of highly-rated Walsall left back Rico Henry. The Hinckley Times has also confirmed that Watford are another admirer of the England Under-19 international, who has frequently been linked with a move to a higher-league this season.

Claudio Ranieri has already proven his eye for a player in the Football League after signing Demarai Gray from Birmingham City last week. It would now appear he has taken an interest in adding the full back to his ranks. He already has another highly-rated prospect in the form of Ben Chilwell in this position, but he wants competition for places.

Championship clubs Wolverhampton Wanderers, Derby County and Brighton & Hove Albion are amongst the clubs who have also been checking up on the talents of Henry. Brentford, managed by former Walsall boss Dean Smith, is another club that is an admirer of his.

With the long list of clubs supposedly queuing  up to lure the 18-year-old away from the Bescot Stadium, the club are set to be bracing themselves for sizeable bids this month. It remains to be seen if the club would cash in on the player or wait until the end of season, where they could potentially offer him Championship football should they gain promotion.

The Birmingham-born defender signed his first pro contract in July 2014 and would his debut a few months later in a Johnstone’s Paint Trophy clash against Tranmere Rovers. He made his league bow a few days later versus Barnsley. Ever since then, he has gone from strength to strength and it will be interested to monitor the progress of this exciting performer.
