Derby and Forest to battle for Scottish striker

Derby County and Nottingham Forest are both interested in signing Hibernian star Jason Cummings, according to the Daily Mail.

The 20 year old striker has 18 months left on his contract at Hibs and has 16 goals in 24 games this season.

The Scotland Under 21 international missed Hibs 2-0 win over Raith Rovers at the weekend, although his absence was put down to illness.

However, he has been heavily linked with a move away from Scotland in this window and it remains to be seen if Hibernian will be able to keep hold of their star man.

He has also attracted interest from Rotherham, Wolves, Reading, Brighton and Fulham.

Derby currently lie second in the table after 25 games, whereas their rivals Forest have struggled.

They are currently 14th in the Sky Bet Championship, although a play off place is only ten points away.

Forest are looking for a striker as an alternative to Britt Assombalonga whilst he regains fitness, who has struggled greatly with injuries since signing for the club.
