Davies move from Bolton to Sheff Wed now in doubt

There has been a ‘slight hiccup’ regarding Mark Davies’ proposed transfer from Bolton Wanderers to Sheffield Wednesday. The Bolton News chief football writer Marc Iles understands that the players’ personal terms are the stumbling block at this moment in time.

It remains to be seen if this will be enough to potential halt the deal going ahead or if it is just a formality for the agreement to be finalised. It is believed that Davies is one of the highest earners at Bolton and perhaps the Owls are struggling to match those wage demands.

It was revealed a few days ago that Carlos Carvalhal’s pursuit of the former Wolves man had taken a step further after a bid was submitted. Trotters boss Neil Lennon confirmed that Davies sat out their FA Cup tie with Eastleigh on Saturday as he was close to completing a move to Hillsborough.

It is therefore looking increasingly unlikely that Davies will sign for Sheff Wed in time to be considered for tomorrow’s home clash, ironically against Bolton. It is also even more unlikely that Davies will feature in Lennon’s squad whilst the relevant parties discuss the potential transfer.

Other news surrounding Bolton today came surrounding Zach Clough and Dorian Dervite. Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill has confirmed that they bid £2million for Clough and the player is now pondering over the move. Also, Iles believes that Dervite is being linked with a move to Bulgarian side Levski Sofia.
