Honesty is the best policy at Brentford

Brentford boss Dean Smith has spoken to his players about any transfer bids that have come in for them and believes being honest with players is the best way to go about things, according to Get West London.

Bids have come in for two Brentford players already this month, with Burnley bidding for central defender James Tarkowski and Sheffield Wednesday taking an interest in former Blackburn Rovers winger Alan Judge.

Smith said: “I speak to my players all the time. My policy is always to be honest with them and let them know what’s happening.

“I always tell them that heads can get turned by bids but weren’t you happy when you signed your contract at Brentford. Yes, you’re still under contract at Brentford.”

Smith went on to explain how everyone at the football club has their price, but the club aren’t keen to sell any players this month and they certainly won’t be selling anyone unless their valuation is met.
