Nottingham Forest have re-signed midfielder Gary Gardner on loan from Aston Villa, the club have confirmed.
The central midfielder signs for Forest a year after first joining on loan, when he made 18 appearances for the club and impressed the Forest faithful.
Gardner had hoped to make an impression on struggling Villas first team but got injured in pre season and hasn’t featured yet this season.
However, the 23 year old will now be available for Dougie Freedman to use in Forests squad for the rest of this campaign.
Gardner has come through the ranks at Villa, although he has failed to ever nail down a first team spot.
The news is a huge boost for Forest who were lacking a goalscoring midfielder in their engine room, but may have now solved that by bringing back Gardner.
The club currently lie 14th in the Sky Bet Championship and have 31 points.
They are 10 points off sixth placed Ipswich Town after 25 games.
