Hull, Hull goalkeeper signs new deal

Hull goalkeeper signs new deal

Hull City goalkeeper Allan McGregor has signed a new two-year deal with the Tigers.

McGregor’s contract was due to expire at the end of this current season. However, he has persuaded Steve Bruce enough through his performances this season that he deserves a contract extension.

McGregor, a Scottish international, signed for Hull from Besiktas in the summer of 2013. He notably saved a Frank Lampard penalty on his debut for the Tigers. He has since then played nearly 80 games, including featuring in the Europa League and in an FA Cup final.

However, McGregor has made some high profile mistakes for Hull.  For example, earlier on this season he made a huge blunder against Wolves which cost the Tigers in that game. Nevertheless, he still gains the plaudits of his manager Steve Bruce, who claimed McGregor is still a ‘top class’ goalkeeper.

With McGregor being 33 the contract extension will see him to the age of 35. However, Steve Harper played for the Tigers at the age of 40 last season in goal, so McGregor may have learnt a tip or two from him!
