Blackpool agree fee with Oldham for striker

Blackpool have agreed a fee with Oldham Athletic for striker Danny Philliskirk, according to a report by The Blackpool Gazette.

Philliskirk was at Bloomfield Road yesterday to discuss a deal to sign for the Seasiders and it is understood that the striker now just needs to pass a medical before he officially signs for the club.

Blackpool manager Neil McDonald admitted that he needed to strengthen every single area of the squad this month in order to improve the club’s league position.  Signing Philliskirk, who is Oldham’s top scorer this season with seven goals, will be a big boost to the rest of the squad.

The Gazette reported last week that Blackpool had bid £75,000 for the striker, but this bid was rejected by Oldham.  It is believed that Blackpool raised the fee in terms of method of payment and now Philliskirk looks set to sign for the club.

The Blackpool squad is short on players and the team recently fell back into the relegation zone so this could be a big transfer window for the club.
