Hartlepool extend loan of ‘key player’ for rest of season

Hartlepool United have confirmed that Crystal Palace youngster Jake Gray will remain on loan with the club until the end of the season. He has made a big impression ever since linking up with the Victoria Park club at the beginning of November.

Gray, who turned 20 on Christmas Day, has certainly provided Pools boss Ronnie Moore with a more than decent option in the midfield position. Ever since making his debut for the club in an FA Cup tie against Cheltenham Town, Gray has gone on from strength to strength. Moore was delighted at being able to extend the loan for the rest of the campaign,

“Jake has shown his ability during the time he’s been here so it’s great that he’ll be sticking around.

He gives us something different in that midfield area and could be a key player for us between now and the end of the season so I thank Crystal Palace for letting us keep him.”

Gray has twice featured for his parent club in cup competitions during the 2014/campaign. He played thirty minutes of the away victory against Walsall and he played in extra time in the defeat to Newcastle United.

Since linking up with Hartlepool, he has started eight games in all competitions, scoring twice in the televised victory over Leyton Orient. You can see his goals in the video below, whilst the video above shows him scoring in a Crystal Palace Under-21 fixture.
