Millwall Manager faces defensive headache following Edwards injury

Millwall Manager Neil Harris is facing a selection headache following injuries to right backs Carlos Edwards and Shaun Cummings, according to News at Den.

Despite the defensive injury crisis at The Den, Harris remains insistent that he will not be forced into the January transfer market to find a temporary fix to the problem and will use the players already at his disposal.

The Lions’ budget has previously been reported to be very tight and it is understood that Harris would need to sell players before he can make any January additions.

Mahlon Romeo is currently the only fully fit right back at The Den and Harris looks set to place his faith in the 20 year old former Gillingham man should fellow right back Shaun Cummings not recover in time for the trip to Oldham Athletic on Saturday.

Veteran right sided defender Carlos Edwards suffered a hamstring injury in last Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Barnsley and is expected to be out for several weeks.

Midfielder Jimmy Adbou reverted to the right back position for the closing stages of the Oakwell clash.

Having suffered indifferent form throughout the festive fixture schedule, Millwall face an important month of fixtures as they look to build a League 1 Play Off push.

The club are also set to face Oxford United in the Johnstones’ Paint Trophy Southern Area Final over 2 legs with a place at Wembley in the Final at stake.
