Crystal Palace consider transfer bid for Charlie Austin

A transfer bid for QPR striker Charlie Austin is on the cards for Crystal Palace this week, metro.co.uk suggests.

Austin gained interest following his debut in the Premier League last season. Despite QPR’s season ending in relegation, the striker scored an impressive 18 goals in 35 appearances.

The striker has continued to perform in the championship, netting for QPR 10 times this season.

The move could be a fantastic opportunity for QPR’s Austin, who currently sit in 14th position in the Championship, with Crystal Palace outside contenders for a Europa League place this season.

The 26-year-old is causing a stir amongst premier league clubs Newcastle and Crystal Palace, with both teams chasing the championship striker, according to ChronicleLive.

Crystal Palace Manager Alan Pardew could be set to hand his former club a blow by following through with the transfer bid for Austin as Newcastle’s striker Papis Cisse could face three months out with an injury (knee).

However, metro.co.uk suggest that Austin may reject a move in order to see out his contract at QPR until the end of the season following tweets from The Sunday Mirrors Paul Smith.
