Burnley see bid for Brentford defender turned down

Get West London are reporting that Burnley have had a bid for Brentford centre back James Tarkowski rejected. Sean Dyche is chasing a new centre back as Michael Keane’s Turf Moor future remains somewhat unclear.

23-year-old Tarkowski has been an impressive performer for the Griffin Park side ever since Mark Warburton signed him from Oldham Athletic in January 2014. He played a key part in helping the club achieve promotion into the Championship, as well as reaching the Play-Offs last season.

A few days ago The Lancashire Telegraph revealed news regarding Keane, who is said to be attracting interest from clubs such as Everton. The Toffees are said to be preparing an offer in the region of £6million to lure the ex-Manchester United defender to Goodison Park. However a move supposedly depends on any potential move for John Stones in this transfer window as well.

It is believed that Dyche and the Clarets sanctioned a bid of £2.3million to their Championship rivals in the hope of prizing him to their own promotion campaign. Keane has been at Turf Moor for one year but it would appear that Dyche is at least planning for a replacement just in case he departs. Even if he does stay, a new centre back would seem a wise move, especially as veteran Michael Duff will turn 38 next week.
