Demarai Gray will leave Birmingham City and complete his move to high flying Leicester today, reports the Birmingham Mail.

The 19 year old has passed his medical ahead of a £3.75m move to Leicester, who are surprise title contenders.

He will not be loaned back to The Blues for the remainder of the season and the possibility of that happening has never been discussed.

If the move is completed, Gray will leave the club he signed for as a child, after 78 appearances and eight goals.

News of the deal broke on Friday night and Gray was not involved at all in Birmingham’s 2-1 victory over Brentford on Saturday.

Blues boss Gary Rowett then confirmed after the game that his release clause had been met by a top flight side and the winger had asked to be able to speak to them.

It later emerged that the option of Gray returning on loan was on the cards, although The Birmingham Mail report that was never going to happen.

Birmingham are working to replace the youngster, either with a season long loan deal or a permanent signing.

The play-off contenders have been strong in The Championship so far this season and lie eighth after 25 games, just two points off the play-offs.
