Nottingham Forest set to sign left back on loan

Nottingham Forest on the brink of closing in on signing Villarreal left back Bojan Jokic on loan, according to the Nottingham Post.

Nottingham Forest are set to finalise a loan deal on the Slovenian International in the coming days. The Nottingham post indicates that manager Dougie Freedman hopes to settle the deal with Villarreal within the next day.

Despite the left back holding his own in European Qualifiers for Slovenia, Jokic has struggled to find his feet at the Spanish side, starting only two games this season.

29 -year-old Jokic has played in a wide range of countries, starting his career at Triglav Kranj in his home country Slovenia; his most recent clubs being Italian side Chievo and Spanish side Villarreal. Jokic has made 22 appearances in La Liga since signing for the side in 2013.

Forest Manager Freedman has stated “We feel it should be done over the weekend. We hope he will be in with us training on Monday. That is the plan.”

The La Liga defender could be invaluable to The Reds after left back Daniel Pinillos was ruled out for the rest of the season through injury (knee).

However, Jokic will be in competition for his position after Chris Cohen made his first appearance in 15 months against Charlton on Saturday at the left back position.

Although Cohen previously played midfield, prior to his knee injury, Dougie Freedman alluded to the fact that Cohen will be reintroduced to the side at the left back position.

Although unbeaten in 8 games, the Reds have only 1 win in 6 games under their belt. Saturday proved an all too familiar story with Charlton clawing a goal back to claim a draw, resulting in Forest sitting in 14th position in the Championship.
