Manchester United Manager Louis Van Gaal has recalled striker Will Keane from a season long loan spell at Championship club Preston North End reports The Daily Star.

Van Gaal has been heavily criticised by supporters of the former Premier League champions this season with the club having failed to entertain. The Red Devils have scored just 22 goals in 19 Premier League matches and are the 7th lowest scorers in the Premier League.

United are currently in 6th place in the Premier League table, 5 points off a Champions League place and Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial are the only recognised strikers on the books at Old Trafford.

Van Gaal has made the decision to recall youngster Will Keane from his season long loan spell at Preston North End in an attempt to inject more goals into his United side.

The 22 year old graduated through United’s youth academy and has been loaned out to Wigan Athletic, QPR and Sheffield Wednesday prior to his summer loan move to Preston North End. Keane has represented England at Under 16 to Under 21 levels.

Keane has scored twice in 22 appearances for the Deepdale club and the striker’s return to Old Trafford could force Manager Simon Grayson into a January transfer hunt for a replacement striker.
