Brentford swift to extend deal of Chelsea youngster

Championship club Brentford have extended the loan deal of on loan Chelsea midfielder John Swift, according to getwestlondon.

The 20 year old Portsmouth born midfielder joined The Bees on a short term loan deal in October and has impressed at Griffin Park after scoring 3 goals in 14 matches.

Swift graduated from Chelsea’s youth academy after representing The Blues at junior level from 12 years of age. Successful senior loan stints at Rotherham United and Swindon Town followed before his latest loan move took him across West London to Brentford.

The midfielder has also represented his country on the international stage at Under 16 to Under 21 levels and has recently played in Euro 2017 Qualifying matches for the England Under 21s.

Swift’s energy and enthusiasm on the pitch has resulted in the midfielder becoming well liked by the Griffin Park faithful. The youngster is a box to box midfielder who is not afraid of a tough tackle and has made a sufficient impact to impress Manager Dean Smith enough to extend his loan deal until the end of the season.

After a tough start to the season, Brentford have pushed on in recent weeks and could challenge for a Championship Play Off spot under the guidance of new Manager Dean Smith.
