Orient owner charged for kicking assistant manager
Leyton Orient chairman Francesco Becchetti has been charged by the FA following an incident after the Boxing Day clash against Portsmouth.
Orient won the fixture 3-2 and Becchetti went pitch side to join in with the celebrations with the team and coaching staff.
Assistant manager Andy Hessenthaler appears to say something towards the president, who walks after him and ends up kicking him.
Following the incident, Leyton Orient released a statement on their official website which said ‘the event reported in the media was very much in good humour for both the President and Assistant Manager and part of an ongoing and good natured exchange between the two over the past few weeks.
‘There was absolutely nothing untoward about the exchange and the two men get along very well professionally on the pitch and personally off the pitch.
‘Mr Becchetti and Mr Hessenthaler were extremely pleased with the result of the game and were celebrating a very well deserved and exciting win.’
Despite this, the FA have charged Becchetti for misconduct and released a statement saying ‘it is alleged that his behaviour at the end of the fixture amounts to violent and/or improper conduct.
‘He has until 6pm on 4 January 2016 to respond to the charge.’
