Mansfield Town v York City – Match Preview

York City face Mansfield Town at Field Mill on Bank Holiday Monday looking to build on their recent home victory over Morecambe which gave new Manager Jackie McNamara his first points as City boss.

Mansfield Town are in good form and are chasing a Play Off place in League 2. The Stags have lost just once in their last 5 matches and recorded a credible 1-1 draw with Cambridge United last time out.

Both York City and Mansfield Town’s Boxing Day fixtures were postponed due to the recent wet weather. York City were set to host promotion chasers Northampton Town while Mansfield Town were scheduled to travel to Morecambe.

The home side welcome back captain Nicky Hunt on Monday with the full back having recovered from a recent hamstring injury but will be without former York City loanee Malvind Benning who continues to recover from a knee problem.

York City arrive in Nottinghamshire without winger Michael Coulson who has recently had surgery while strikers Jake Hyde and Emile Sinclair continue to struggle with a series of niggling injuries which has seen both players play minor roles for the club this season.

York City have been a bogey side for Mansfield Town in recent seasons at Field Mill but the home side are strong favourites to take the 3 points this time round and complete a league double over their opposition.
