Top FL Signings: Football Manager 2016

Football Manager is the global phenomenon of a games series that just keeps giving. Whether you manage your local team or the giants such as Barcelona, United or Real, its bound to give months of enjoyment and an immerse experience which no other football game offers.

In this article, I will give my opinion on the top five signings on Football Manager 2016, of players you can buy from Football League sides. This list is not comprehensive and many miss out, whilst many of these players are unrealistically hard to sign for other Football League sides.

However, this a list of players in the Football League who for whatever reason, make top signings on Football Manager 2016.

Number 5: Bradley Dack:

Dack is Gillinghams key man in real life and is also an exceptional player in League One on the game, with stats easily good enough for The Championship. He is a natural in both central midfield and central attacking midfield and has a number of stats which can massively help most Championship sides. His attacking stats are superb and he has 14 long shots, 13 passing and 11 dribbling, making him potent in attacking midfield. Gillingham’s scout also reckon he’s good enough for The Championship… with Premier League potential.

Availability: Can sign for a fee in the region of £1m, but could get Gills to go lower.

Number 4: Dominic Iorfa

Dominic Iorfa is one of the hottest Championship prospects on the game and can do a very good job immediately in The Championship and for some Premier League teams. He is only 20 years old and is natural at right back and centre back, which gives him versatility. Wolves scouts rate him as being able to play in the Premier League straight away and stats of 14 heading and 13 tackling and marking suggest they’re right. Iorfa could be a top signing for pretty much any Premier League side

Availability: Low wages make contract negotiations easy, but Wolves will ask for a lot and you may have to go to £6m + add ons.

Number 3: Tom Bradshaw

Bradshaw is the leading light of Walsall’s attack and has all the stats to be your star striker at any Championship or League One club. The only downside of him is that he can be fairly injury prone, but at 22 years old and on low wages, this is a problem that is probably worth the risk. Stats of 14 finishing and 13 composure, whilst he also has decent strength and pace mean he is ideal as a poacher in any Football League attack. He is viewed as a leading Championship striker by Walsall’s scouts and whilst this may be an optimistic view of his current ability, he can certainly deliver at that level.

Availability: Can be signed in the region of £1.5m + add ons, with low wages.

Number 2: Jordan Rhodes

Rhodes is the most valuable player in this list and at 25 years old is also the oldest, but his stats speak for themselves. A striker who it is hard to believe hasn’t played above The Championship in his career, the Blackburn man  has all the stats to do a job in the top flight on Football Manager 2016. Blackburn’s scouts rate him as a good Premier League player and quite frankly; they’re right. With stats of 16 finishing and composure, that alone will mean he bags goals in any team where he gets service.

Availability: Rhodes will cost you a lot, probably upwards of £10m. He also already earns £35k a week, meaning his wages may well be high. However, if you do snap him up, you’ve got a guaranteed goalscorer among your ranks- golddust.

Number 1: Lewis Cook

18 at the start of the game, Cook is the shining light of Leeds academy. In real life, he has made a position in the heart of their midfield his own and on Football Manager, it should be no different. Combative but also with great passing and playmaking abilities, Cook should run any Championship midfield for years and will do a job in the Premiership as well. Leeds scouts say he is good enough for the top flight straight away and his stats make this hard to disagree with- good passing, tackling and dribbling mean that Cook is able to run your midfield right away.

Availability- Leeds will not let their key man go cheap and you may be forced to pay upwards of £8m to get your man.

Notable Absentees: Benik Afobe, Alex Mowatt, Demarai Gray, Tomer Hemed, Charlie Austin, Zach Clough, Louis Reed, Danny Mayor, Paddy Madden, Josh Carson, Kemar Roofe.
