Heart-in-mouth, edge-of-seat, turtle’s head. However you want to define the Leeds United vs Wolverhampton game from tonight, these and many more would suffice. It was one of those games.
Leeds were split open like a kipper for the Wolves opener with a simple ball beyond their back line giving the sharp Benik Afobe an easy chance to slot the ball past a helpless Marco Silvestri in the Leeds goal. Buoyed by this, Wolves pressed forward and the Whites began to buckle a little. Just before half-time (44′), the newly-recalled Sam Byram played a neat one-two before firing into the goal underneath the acrobatic dive-over from Chris Wood.
The man turning the game was the oft-criticised Souleymane Doukara and it was Leeds’ resurgent French-born forward whose deftly laid-off back heel allowed Stuart Dallas to stride into the penalty area to smash home a second Leeds United goal (51′). The ground erupted, Leeds fans were in raptures and rubbing their eyes in disbelief at a 2-1 lead. Things were to get better a short while later when Sam Byram (60′) leapt like a beautiful salmon to nod the ball past Carl Ikeme in the Wolves goal.
At 3-1, Leeds were rampant and pouring forward like rampant Vikings sensing blood. All of a sudden, Wolves were the ones being bitten and snapped at and showung all the frailties that were usually asociated with Leeds United. However, the impressive Nathan Byrne (81′) set up a very nervous last ten-or-so minutes as he cushioned a great right-footed effort back across Marco Silvestri to give Wolves brief hope. However, despite pushing and probing for an equaliser, Leeds United held strong and emerged worthy 3-2 victors.

Delighted with that win, Dallas was class, bridcutt and cook in the middle looks quality. Wood couldn't score in a brothel. #lufc
