Former Fulham striker blames English laws over Russian driving ban

Former Fulham striker Pavel Pogrebnyak has been landed with an 18-month ban in Russia for drink driving, according to a report.

The striker, who also played for Reading has been banned for driving for 18 months but decided to place the blame on English laws.  Pogrebnyak said of his ban: “I got used to the fact that I could drink two beers after a match and get behind the wheel.”

Pogrebnyak now plays in Russia for Dynamo Moscow after leaving Reading at the end of last season.  The striker has one goal in eleven appearances for the Russian club so far.

Fulham signed Pogrebnyak from Stuttgart in January 2012 and became the quickest player to reach five goals in Premier League history, managing the achievement in three games.  However the striker failed to meet the terms needed to extend his contract and signed for Reading.

Pogrebnyak scored 28 goals in 103 appearances whilst at Reading.
