Championship clubs in race to sign Manchester City midfielder

Manchester City midfielder George Evans is attracting interest from four Championship clubs after his performances on-loan at Walsall, according to HITC.

Brentford are reportedly leading the race to secure his signature, with former Walsall boss Dean Smith eager to bring the 20-year-old down to London with him after becoming the Bees’ new manager.

Sheffield Wednesday, Wolves and Burnley are all looking into the possibility of bringing the midfielder to the club on-loan in January.

After joining Walsall in November, Evans has gone onto make five appearances for the Saddlers. He has been a presence in that Walsall side and has two goals and three assists so far during his spell in the West Midlands. Evans also has international honours, having represented England under-16s, under-17s and under-19s.

Despite Burnley and Sheffield Wednesday looking for promotion to the Premier League, the chance to be reunited with Dean Smith appears to be enough to attract the youngster to Brentford.

Evans’ contract expires in June 2016, whoever he joins on-loan will have a great opportunity to make that a permanent deal at the end of the season.
