Forest extend midfielder’s loan spell

Nottingham Forest have extended the loan spell of Bolton Wanderers midfielder Liam Trotter, the club have confirmed.

The midfielder has made seven appearances so far in his time at The City Ground and the 28 day extension to his loan means that he will be available to Dougie Freedman over the busy festive period.

Trotter scored on his Forest debut against old club Ipswich, Forest’s only goal in a 1-1 draw with The Tractor Boys.

He also featured in last Saturday’s 3-0 win over Fulham.

The result lifted Forest to 15th in what has been an ultimately disappointing season so far for the club.

However, they are still only six points off the play-off spots due to the tight nature of The Championship this season, meaning that if they can continue the form which saw them run out winners on Saturday, they could yet make a big impact this campaign.

They have also been recently buoyed by the return of midfielder Chris Cohen to training, after he had suffered the third cruciate knee ligament injury of his career.
