MK boss – “three weeks to save your careers”

MK Dons manager Karl Robinson has warned his current crop of players that they have three weeks to save their careers at the club, he told the BBC.

The Dons are only out of the relegation zone on goal difference after their 2-0 defeat at Brentford’s Griffin Park on Saturday.

The Bees scored through Lasse Vibe and Alan Judge for their first victory under new boss Dean Smith and it could’ve been even worse for the Dons, had the woodwork not denied Brentford on a number of occasions.

Robinson told the BBC “maybe they’re lucky because if this was in January it may be different. They’ve got three weeks to fight for their place to stay not just in the team, but at the club.”

He then added:  “We’ll get relegated if we perform like that.”

“That was poor, and I said that to the players. My players never play without any desire or fight but we looked disjointed, we looked like we had no energy, we looked like we couldn’t get round the pitch.”

“We looked like we were second best, I don’t think we won a tackle or a header.”

MK won two of their opening three games after gaining promotion last season but their form has dipped recently and they have only won twice since then.

They have lost 10 times in their last 15 games and after their latest defeat, they lie 20th in The Sky Bet Championship, only out of the relegation zone on goal difference.
