Blades interested in former Blackburn boss

Sheffield United are monitoring former Blackburn boss Gary Bowyer’s situation after recent results have seen the Blades struggle, according to the Sun.

Bowyer was dismissed as boss of the Lancashire club last month after results left his side struggling in the bottom half of the Sky Bet Championship table.

However, the 44-year-old may not be out of management long, with Sheffield United reportedly keeping tabs on Bowyer’s availability.

Pressure has mounted on current boss Nigel Adkins in recent weeks after a string of poor results has left the Blades in mid-table in League One.

Sheffield United progressed through to the Third Round of the FA Cup after a 1-0 victory against Oldham at the weekend, but have failed to pick up many points in the weeks before this.

The Blades have picked up just three points in their last six games and it has led to some supporters calling for a change in management at the South Yorkshire club.

Their next game is against high-flying Coventry City, where failure to pick up points will certainly lead to further pressure mounting on the United manager.
