Arsenal youngster wanted by Championship clubs

Arsenal youngster Alex Iwobi is wanted by Reading and Birmingham City, according to the Daily Mirror

The 19 year old striker is apparently being targeted by the Championship clubs, before the emergency loan window shuts on Wednesday.

League One side Sheffield United are also touted as having an interest in the Nigerian striker.

Arsene Wenger is also keen to let his young striker go out on loan, after making two brief substitute appearances this season.

However, Iwobi may be asked to stay at the North London club as they currently have a lot of injuries, including those to Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, making them short on options up top.

Arsenal have struggled recently, winning just one of their last five matches.

Iwobi would likely be a good signing for Birmingham or Reading, who are both harbouring hopes of promotion and lie in sixth and seventh place respectively.

Sheffield United meanwhile have struggled by their standards in League One this term and lie in 11th place after 18 games.

Iwobi would add pace and power to any of their attacks, although it is still unknown whether Wenger will allow him to leave when he is short on options due to injuries.
