Loanee Ferguson targets more goals for the Lions

Millwall loanee Shane Ferguson has told the club’s official website that he is targeting more goals for his new club after he opened his Lions account with a brace in Saturday’s 4-1 win over Colchester United.

Ferguson, a Northern Ireland international, is on loan from Newcastle United, and registered a goal in each half against the Essex side to help Millwall to a comprehensive victory.

With a busy fixture list coming up, starting with an away trip to Fleetwood Town on Tuesday, Ferguson is hoping to start a scoring run in the coming weeks.

After Saturday’s victory, which extended Millwall’s unbeaten run to nine games, the 24-year-old said; “I’m just delighted to get my first couple of goals. I’ve been taking a bit of stick from the boys and the manager but thankfully it’s come now and hopefully I can get a few more. I’ve worked hard in training on my finishing.”

Commenting on the Lions’ run of good form, Ferguson added: “You can see the effects on the whole squad, not just in the lads who are playing but in the young lads as well. It makes you try things because you’re confident and you can see that on matchdays.”
