Young Brentford trio sign new contracts

Brentford have announced on their official website that three Development Squad players have signed new contracts.

James Ferry, Tom Field and Zain Westbrooke have all signed one-year extensions until the end of June 2017. All three first signed their professional contracts in the summer after coming through the Club’s Academy and have been part of the successful Under-21 team at Griffin Park this season.

18-year-old midfielder Ferry has captained Brentford’s Development Squad this term, playing 12 times and scoring once. Meanwhile left back Field, also 18, has made 11 appearances and Westbrooke, 19, has made 12 appearances and scored once before picking up an injury that has ruled him out for part of the season.

Brentford FC Head of Football Operations Rob Rowan said: “I’m pleased that we’ve agreed to extend the boys’ contracts. They’ve now got an additional 12 months to take advantage of the resources they have available to them at the club whether it be staff or facilities. All three have acted very professionally since they joined the Development Squad and it’s very important they maintain those high standards.”

Development Squad Head Coach Kevin O’Connor added: “This is just reward for James, Tom and Zain for their hard work, effort and performance over the past five months, their first as professionals. This is a great opportunity for them and they can develop and mature for another year with us.”
