Burton keeper keen to return

Burton Albion goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin has told the clubs website that he is eager to return to first team action.

McLaughlin has had a three week break from the side, as Burton played in the FA Cup, whilst their League One tie against Millwall was postponed.

The 28 year old Scot, who played 125 games for Bradford before signing for The Brewers has impressed this season, in a campaign in which his club have excelled.

Despite it being their first ever season in the third tier, Burton currently lie in fourth, just two points off league leaders Gillingham and they have a game in hand over the Kent outfit.

McLaughlin said: “You never like sitting on the bench, you feel a bit helpless watching. But when you have someone like Remi (Matthews) stepping in you never worry and it’s great for him to be able to be part of it as well. Just from a purely selfish point of view you always want to be out there with the lads playing week in week out.”

Burton will be hoping to bounce back from their 3-0 FA Cup defeat to Peterborough when they get back into the League fixtures this weekend.

However, with two tough games at Bury and Wigan ahead of them, Burton will have to be at their best to continue their good league form.

Their is also speculation about the future of manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, who has been linked with a number of Championship clubs.
