Pereira will now contest for the number one shirt alongside the experienced Josh Lillis. Other goalkeepers on the books with Dale include youngster Jonathan Musangu and the experienced Steve Collis, who is also the goalkeeper coach with the club.

The keeper, who has dual Swiss and Portuguese nationality, made the move to Old Trafford in the summer of 2012 after impressing during a trial with the youth team. He has appeared in the UEFA Youth League and also the Milk Cup during his time in Manchester. Alan Fettis, his goalkeeper coach in the Man Utd academy, believes he has the potential to become a ‘top goalkeeper’ and is ‘progressing well.’
