King hoping for Iron improvement

Scunthorpe United midfielder Jack King has told the Scunthorpe Telegraph that the players can’t feel sorry for themselves in the wake of their disappointing defeat to Swindon on Saturday.

United were in a fine vein of form before heading to the County Ground, having won five from their previous six league games; however, as disappointing as tasting a rare defeat was, the former Preston man is looking to bounce back against Bradford this weekend.

“The making of any good team is to bounce back when you get a setback. We’ve done that at the start of the season and we need to do that again.” King said.

“We don’t want to be losing any game, but on Saturday we weren’t really at the races and we didn’t really get going.

“Although in the first half they didn’t appear to be any major threat to us, and in the second half they got the two goals out of nothing.”

The Iron were decimated by illness, injury and suspension for the skyBET League Two clash with manager Mark Robins forced into making five changes from the team that knocked Southend of the FA Cup.

But King reiterates that they can’t use that as an excuse.

“It’s not ideal to lose the players that we have,” King continued.

“We’re losing key players at key times, but we can’t feel sorry for ourselves. We’ve got to go out and get the result that we need.”
