Brentford in talks with Swansea over compensation for coach

Brentford are in talks with Swansea City over having coach Pep Clotet take over as manager of the Championship side, according to a report.

Brentford have been searching for a manager since September, with Lee Carsley in charge at the club as interim boss until the right man is found.  Carsley has done well at Brentford, leading the team up the table. However he recently rejected the chance to go for the job himself.

It therefore looks as though Brentford have turned to Swansea coach Pep Clotet, who is assistant manager to Garry Monk at the Welsh side.

Clotet joined Swansea in 2013 as academy consultant but was promoted to the rank of assistant manager in May 2014.

At 38, Clotet would be one of the youngest managers in the English game, following in the footsteps of Monk who was only 34 years-old when he took over at Swansea.

It is understood that Clotet will be allowed to leave Swansea and his appointment at Brentford could be finalised very soon.
