Blackburn Rovers will announce new boss tomorrow

Blackburn Rovers will announce Paul Lambert as their new manager tomorrow, according to a report by The Sun.

There has been speculation that Lambert was the man Blackburn owners Venky’s had chosen to replace Gary Bowyer and after days of negotiating with him, he is set to be announced.

It is understood that Lambert will bring in former Blackburn youth coach Alan Irvine as his assistant as the pair look to get the club back into the Premier League, something that Lambert believes he can achieve.

If Lambert can take the club up, it will not be his first taste of promotion after achieving promotions in consecutive seasons with Norwich City when he took the club from League One to the Premier League.

More recently Lambert has been travelling Europe, watching training at top teams including Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid after being sacked by Aston Villa.

It is believed that Lambert was approached by fellow Championship side Queens Park Rangers, with manager-less Fulham also interested, but the manager has taken the Blackburn job after being impressed with facilities at the club.

Blackburn are hoping for their transfer embargo to be lifted so that Lambert will be able to sign players to lead a promotion push in January.
