Mirco Antenucci was one of Massimo Cellino’s drove of imports from the Italian lower leagues before the start of the 2014/15 Championship season, signing from Ternana for a fee of around €750,000. “The idea came from my desire to have an experience abroad. Then came a call from England and I could not say no to such a prestigious club.”
When reminded of where he came from and how he ended up scoring his 100th career goal in a Leeds United shirt.
“If I think of when I played in the Pro League, I could never imagine wearing the Leeds shirt. I have been rewarded through my will and my being a professional.”
When asked if there’ll be competition with Fernando Forestieri – both on five goals
“No, no goal challenges, I never liked them. I prefer to win with my team rather than to score many goals.”
When asked about the future and what he feels it holds for him.
” I do not know , I am out of contract . Let’s see what happens . Meanwhile, I need to do well with this shirt, that’s the most important thing now .”
