Gillingham loan Reading striker Samuel

Reading striker Dominic Samuel has joined League One high flyers Gillingham on a one month loan deal, according to Gillingham’s official website.

The 21-year-old front man is a product of the Royals’ youth academy and has featured twice for the first team this season in the Championship.

Samuel has been loaned out on three different occasions; to Dagenham & Redbridge, Colchester United and most notably Coventry City where he netted six times in thirteen games whilst on loan at the Ricoh last season.

Gillingham decided to move quickly to draft in another attacking player with Luke Norris sidelined until Christmas and Cody McDonald still searching for full fitness following his own injury.

Manager Justin Edinburgh said: “We are delighted to have captured Dominic’s signature, he had a massive impact at Coventry last year in this division with six goals in 13 games.

“With Luke’s (Norris) injury we have been a little bit short in that area but it gives us another option and a bit of a spark at the right time.”

Samuel will go straight into the Gills squad for their Sky BET League One clash with Bury this afternoon.
