According to his quotes in the Shield’s Gazette, Newcastle United striker Ivan Toney is eager to extend his loan deal at Barnsley.
Toney recently completed a one month loan move to the League One side but is already keen to prolong his stay. The former Northampton Town frontman is hoping he can impress Tykes boss Lee Johnson enough to make his stint a longer one.
“I thought coming here was the best option for me. I’m happy to be here and hopefully become a big signing for the club, and if it all goes well, I’ll be looking to extend that,” the young forward said.
Toney was signed by Newcastle during the summer transfer window and won the Premier League under-21 Player of the Month award in September. Although the 19-year-old has already played in the Premier League for the Magpies, they believe his development will progress further away from St. James’ Park and after making his debut in midweek it seems Toney appears to be enjoying life at Barnsley.
