Six potential buyers interested in Leeds United

Six potential buyers have an expressed an interest in buying Leeds United after the club was put up for sale, current owner Massimo Cellino has told Sky Sports.

Massimo Cellino was preparing to sell the club to the fans group Leeds Fans United, who were set up with the hope of buying a minority stake in the West Yorkshire club. Cellino then decided against selling to the group, despite originally stating he wanted to make the move as it ‘would be my legacy’.

Now, Cellino is looking elsewhere, and has said that six potential buyers have expressed an interest in the club to his lawyers.

One of those names is Steve Parkin, the Leeds-based owner of Clipper Logistics Group, who has an estimated worth of over £100 million and was reportedly at Leeds United’s last game which saw them beat local rivals Huddersfield Town 3-0.

Sky Sports are also reporting that “Cellino wouldn’t name individuals. Says he’d prefer buyer to be Leeds-based & that the club is now in a “financially okay situation”.”

Cellino last valued the club at £30 million, but he has reported improved the club’s financial situation, and with the club not owning the stadium or training facilities it remains to be seen what the final valuation will be.
