Doncaster to name new boss before next match

Doncaster Rovers Football Club released a statement on their official website earlier today announcing that they will appoint a new manager next week. The new man will be in place for the local derby against Bradford City on October 17th.

Ever since Paul Dickov departed the club earlier this season, several names have been linked with the vacant role at the Keepmoat Stadium. Current caretaker Rob Jones certainly isn’t ruled out of the equation, although their form hasn’t improved a great deal since he took charge. However the joint-favourites for the role are Lee Clark, who attended a recent Doncaster game, and Darren Ferguson, who has a fine record with Peterborough in this division. Nevertheless, the statement provided some clarity on the situation,

The Board of directors are currently conducting interviews and are very impressed with the high calibre of candidates for the role. The aim of this recruitment process has always been to secure the best person for the short, mid and most importantly long term future, of Doncaster Rovers Football Club.

Doncaster Rovers Football Club will be announcing the new first team manager towards the end of next week. The new manager will be in charge for the game against Bradford City on October 17th. We want you to join us here to welcome them next Saturday when they will be introduced to you all and our season can kick on.

Tomorrow Doncaster are without a game because of international commitments, meaning that the Bradford game will be their next fixture. At this moment they remain inside the relegation places, although they are still six places off the final play-off spot.
