Barmby Jnr swaps Foxes for Magpies

League Two side Notts County have confirmed on their official website this morning the loan acquisition of Leicester City’s Jack Barmby. He will be eligible to play against York City tomorrow, subject to Football League ratification.

Jack is son of 23 England cap and former Liverpool and Hull City attacker Nick Barmby. The 20-year-old will remain at Meadow Lane until November 13th 2015. He revealed that once the chance came up for him to go out on loan, he snapped up the opportunity,

“It’s important that I get some first-team experience at a competitive level of football.

I watched the game against Crawley last night (Wednesday) and thought we were unlucky to go behind but the players responded well and looked comfortable in the end after a good performance.”

Barmby started his career at Manchester City but it was a loan spell at League Two side Hartlepool United which propelled him into the notebooks of a series of scouts up and down the country. That earned him a move to Leicester City at the beginning of last season and says that Notts County is the perfect fit for him,

Notts County was the only club in League Two I would have signed for.”

Head of Recruitment Guy Branston believes that Barmby will be an important addition to the squad and that his versatility only adds to the lure of bringing him into the football club,

“I have tracked Jack for years since his days playing in the Milk Cup for Manchester United.

I also watched him during his time with Hartlepool United where he terrorised League Two defences on the left wing and in the number 10 position.

Jack gives us options in different positions. He has a clever footballing brain which can unlock defences but he also liked to get at full backs from his predominantly left-sided position.”

Barmby can also count upon some valuable international experience with various England youth levels. He has featured for the Under-16, Under-18, Under-19 and in March of this year he earned his first call up to the Under-20 side, featuring in a friendly with Mexico.
