MK Dons sign promising England U21 midfielder

MK Dons have confirmed on their official website the loan signing of Jake Forster-Caskey on loan from Championship rivals Brighton & Hove Albion. He becomes their second quick signing following the arrival of striker Nicky Maynard.

The 21-year-old is currently part of the England Under-21 squad and has now penned a five week loan to stadiummk. His temporary deal will expire after the away match at Queens Park Rangers on 24th October.

The youngster has been at Brighton since 2007 and combined with a season-loan at Oxford United in 2012/13, he has accumulated over 100 professional appearances already. He has represented the England side at Under-16 right up to Under-21 level. He was a part of Gareth Southgate’s squad for the Under-21 European Champions over the summer.

His new manager Karl Robinson was delighted to add him to the squad and believes he’ll fit into the teams way of playing immediately,

“To have played for England at all youth levels and plenty of times in the Championship, it shows what a quality player he is.

I saw him when he came on for Dele (Alli) in the U21s recently and he’s someone I’ve got tremendous respect for. Keith Andrews and Matt Upson played with him at Brighton so we weren’t going in blind, plus he’s got Championship experience and came within our wage structure.

Jake will bring tremendous footballing ability to the group – he’s a very talented individual.”

Forster-Caskey is ineligible to feature for MK Dons in the Capital One Cup and his deal includes a recall clause after 28 days. Whilst he will watch tonight’s cup tie with Southampton from the stands, he’ll be hoping to make his debut on Saturday is the televised home match against Derby County.
