Manchester United favourites to sign Wolves striker

Manchester United are currently leaders in the race to sign Wolves striker Niall Ennis, according to The Sun.

The striker has been linked with several Premier League clubs over the past few weeks, including Chelsea and Manchester City, but it is believed Manchester United are now leading the race to sign Ennis.

Ennis, 16, only began playing for Wolves Under-18s last season but managed to make his Under-21 team debut in April.

Since then Ennis has gone on to play for England Under-17s in matches against Italy, Portugal and Turkey, against whom he scored his first international goal.

The fee involved for the signing of the striker is reported to be around £1 million, but Wolves boss Kenny Jackett has made it clear that the club are not encouraging any bids for Ennis.

Ennis himself said: “I just want to make it as a footballer, that’s the dream.

“Obviously a lot of players in this position will think they’re already there, but training with the first team shows you how far you are from it – but also that you can achieve it.

“Players like Dom Iorfa, Jack Price and Danny Batth being the captain, they’re players to look up to, and that just makes me want to follow in their footsteps and be a Wolves first team player.

“I just want to be ready, if the gaffer comes to me and says ‘you have a chance’ I want to be ready so I can prove myself.”
